Maine is one of the leading states in providing high quality health care. As we work to contain costs and increase access to health care, we must also ensure the highest possible quality of health care. The State Health Plan identifies two key objectives for the quality of health care in Maine:
| • | Improve Maine's data and information technology systems to provide tools to measure and improve quality. |
| • | Develop incentives and support for an electronic health record for each Maine citizen while ensuring privacy. |
Further, there are initiatives underway to make progress in specific areas. These include examining the role of community hospitals in the 21st century, and assessing the health care needs of Maine's veterans.
Maine Quality Forum - Your guide to high quality health care
The Maine Quality Forum has been created as part of Dirigo Health. Its mission
is to advocate for high quality health care and help each Maine citizen make
informed health care choices. To achieve its mission, Maine
Quality Forum serves as a clearinghouse of best practices and information
to improve health, and acts as an informational resource for health care providers
and consumers.
